This privacy policy explains which personal data Parcel Progress processes when you use parcelprogress.com, and why.
Who is responsible
Parcel Progress, parcelprogress.com, is responsible for the processing described here. You can reach us at info@parcelprogress.com.
Tracking code and postcode
When you look up a parcel, your browser sends the tracking code and the postcode you enter to our database provider. We use them to check that the postcode matches the parcel's delivery address and then to show you the parcel's status. The postcode is never shown back to you.
To stop codes and postcodes from being guessed, we count failed attempts for each session and for each tracking code. After several failed attempts, lookups for that code are paused for a short time.
Session ID in your browser
Your browser creates a random session ID and keeps it in its local storage under the name parcel-progress-session. The session ID contains no information about you. After a successful lookup, it keeps the parcel unlocked in this browser, so you do not have to enter the postcode again. Access ends 30 days after your latest successful lookup for that parcel. Cookies and storage explains how to delete the session ID.
What the status page shows
The status page shows the parcel's stage, the expected delivery date, the scan history with date, time and place, and the destination city. It never shows a name, a street, a postcode or the contents of the parcel.
Hosting and request data
A hosting provider delivers this website. When you open a page, the hosting provider processes technical request data such as your IP address, your browser's user agent, the address of the page and the time of the request, to deliver the page and to protect the service against attacks.
Error reports
When a page fails in your browser or on the server, an error monitoring service receives an error report. It contains the error, the address of the page, which on a tracking page includes the tracking code, and technical details about the browser. It contains no IP address, no cookies and nothing you typed into a form.
Usage measurement
We count page views and measure loading speed with privacy-friendly, cookieless usage measurement. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Before a measurement leaves your browser, the tracking code is removed from the page address, so every tracking page is counted as the same page.
Fonts
The fonts are served from this website. Your browser does not contact a font service.
Service providers
We use these categories of service providers. Each receives the data described above for its task:
- a hosting provider, which also provides the usage measurement
- a database provider, which stores the parcel status and checks tracking codes and postcodes
- an error monitoring service, which receives error reports
Cookies
This website sets one cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers the language you chose for one year. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Cookies and storage lists everything it keeps in your browser.
